Robecca Novotne-Castner, 28, of North Charleroi, brings her son, Carter, to daycare at the Mon Valley YMCA every day. Castner went to the same daycare when she was Carter's age, and now she utilizes the service while she goes to work at the YMCA as their Human Resources director.

"There aren't many people that can say they look forward to going to work or that they would rather be working than take a day off, but I can," said Castner. "I love where I work and what I do here. This place was a part of my childhood and my goal is to give back in some form or fashion to a place that helped shape me. I appreciate what the YMCA means and does for the community and it is an honor to be a part of that."

In addition to her involvement and her son's involvement with the YMCA, Castner also utilizes facilities such as the express training area, fitness classes, and the pool. However, the YMCA offers more than that. Castner says she has made valuable friendships there.

"Between my co-workers, boss and the other parents…I feel those relationships have helped me grow into the individual I am today," Castner said.

For Castner, the Mon Valley YMCA is a culmination of friends, family, and coworkers. While her work there has spanned a period of five years, her involvement as a community member has been far greater.

"The YMCA has been such a huge part of our community for many years," said Castner.

"There are thousands of people all over, of all ages that have utilized the programs, events, services and the facility. As long as I am here, I will do whatever I can to help it progress, succeed, and continue to give the same experiences to others that I was fortunate to have growing up here."
